What Exactly is a Old English Sheepdog?

Posted by Carl on Feb 5, 2009 in Good Going

The name of the Old English Sheepdog would fool one into thinking this breed had its start in England. The Old English Sheepdog’s lineage is said to come from the Russian Owtcharka or the Bearded Collie. These dogs were exclusive to defending flocks and herds from wolves. In the mid-19th century, the Old English Sheepdogs were used to drive cattle and sheep to markets.

According to the law in those days, because the Old English Sheepdog was a “working class breed” or “worker dog”, taxes were not levied against their owners. However, they did not get off so easy! To prove they were working dogs, their tails were docked(cut) as proof. The docking of the tail was a long practiced custom that lasted even in modern times, which garnered the Old English Sheepdog the nickname, “Bobtail”. If you have an Old English Sheepdog be sure to take a look at some of these dog carriers for your sheepdog or some other dogs you may have.

In the late 1800s though the Old English Sheepdog was first shown in a dog show. This boosted their popularity and the AKC(American Kennel Club) gave them recognition officially in 1905. In 1970′s thanks to advertising and commercials, the popularity grew to enormous numbers especially when they started to appear on certain dog food advertisements. They have been a crowd favorite ever since! For your sheepdog you may want to take a peek at these discount dog crates for the dog’s that you have. These will be great.

Old English Sheepdogs are very happy dogs. They have very good temperments and are great family dogs and exist well with children. They have their natural instinct of herding, and may herd small children. The Old English Sheepdogs are guardians of their families and are loyal protectors. They have been rated as one of the most affectionate and friendliness among strangers and other pets of all the dog breeds. Old English Sheepdogs being “working dogs” do require to be exercised. Be sure to take a look at these dog feeders elevated for your sheepdog today.

They should have long and vigorous walks and plenty of yard room to run and play. The Old English Sheepdog can live outside but they do not do very well in hot weather because of their coat. If you live on a farm, this is the ideal setting because this dog breed is one that loves to get in and get their paws dirty with helping herd livestock. However, they do just fine if you do not live on a farm. They just need to be exercised properly as well as having access to being able to go indoors when it’s too hot.

The Old English Sheepdog is a joy as a family pet and a showman in the ring due to their personality and the ease in training. There are really no major health issues present with this breed other than CHD(coronary heart disease) which can be minimized with proper exercise, dog foods rich in wholesome and organic ingredients rich in vitamins and proteins, regular veterary care, and love. The Old English Sheepdog can live anywhere between 10-15 years depending on it’s lifestyle.

Affordable website design

Posted by Carl on Feb 5, 2009 in Good Going

Been thinking of setting up your own web presence? Well, with the range and affordability of available hosting plans, it sure is a simple task. You can opt to register a domain of your choice, go in for an inexpensive hosting plan, get your content and design organized and publish your website! Hang on there! Maybe I’m over simplifying things. Registration, hosting plans and even content are all things you can do yourself. But website design? Unless you have some sort of experience with professional web tools, you’d better not try this by yourself. Instead, go for an affordable web design.

Where exactly could you begin your search for affordable website design? For starters, you could check with your hosting service provider. Since your hosting provider provides hosting services to numerous clients, chances are she/he has a website designer on board who can give you affordable web design. If you could check this out and find it, you could land yourself an excellent and affordable web design to go with your website. As an existing customer, you could ask for and get a preferential rate.

If this doesn’t work, you could try looking for an affordable website designer online. There are a number of online classifieds where you can source affordable web design. Most of the website designers who use online classifieds to advertise their services excel in providing good, affordable web design services. While they might not be well recognized professionals (in which case they wouldn’t be peddling their talent on online classifieds!), they often are talented youngsters who can give you affordable website designs at a fraction of the cost that a full-fledged agency would charge you. There is one problem though. You need to know exactly what you want and you also need to ensure that your affordable web designer is affordable because of the right reasons. Else you might end up hiring someone who is affordable, but useless or worse still someone who takes the advance you offer them and disappears!

Another source for affordable website design could be the freelancer websites specializing in web design. Most web designers who work on a freelance basis tend to be affordable. And if you are lucky enough to source out a talented web designer, you could not only get affordable web design but excellent design too. Additionally, most freelancer websites have a ratings system for service providers and buyers. Which means that you and the web designer providing you with the affordable web design can rest assured that the service will be delivered on time and paid for. Which makes all the parties concerned happy! Most freelancer sites also adopt an escrow model of payment to ensure compliance by buyers and service providers. This way, the risk that your web designer will vanish after seeking an advance is minimal. You stand to get an affordable web design with in-built peace of mind! You can get your affordable website design by adopting any of these ways and be well on your way to setting up your own website!

Spray Tans- Useful Guidelines For Aquiring A Safe Tan

Posted by Carl on Feb 5, 2009 in Good Going

Tanning booths and used tanning beds are now a regular method to ensure people in ‘sun poor’ countries can have that all over tan every day of the year. Technology has come to the rescue to an industry that is having problems, owing to the rise in cases of skin cancer, with some newer techniques that pose less danger. One of the choices people are now making is to go to a salon that offers spray tanning for an almost instant, safe effect. While sun tan creams and lotions have been popular for many years, the spray system seems to give a more consistent and natural looking color.

Although the popularity is still to be proved, systems using the new spray tanning technology have been designed for home use. The methods of artificially creating this effect may differ but a guide to getting a good finish works with them all. First off, you should exfoliate your skin to remove any dead skin. The last thing you want is to have dead skin dropping off and leaving lighter patches where it once was. Many people who need a winter tan will search for used tanning beds for sale online. You can also find tanning bed lamps for sale for your particular model.

Once that stage has been carried out it is best to apply a moisturizer to your whole body. A common problem especially in the early days of self tanning creams, although it doesn’t happen quite as much now, was to forget to wear gloves when applying the tan which meant that the palms turned orange and let everyone know the tan was a fake. e. knuckles, elbows, knees and ankles will need to be given a lighter coat as these areas will appear much darker and everyone will know what you have been doing! After a spray tanning application you will want to use a towel to remove any excess that may drip and run.

Don’t wiggle around a lot after applying the self tanning agent, remaining as motionless as possible will help to ensure an even tan. Don’t forget to wear some old clothes as fake tan is notorious for staining almost anything it touches. Another point to consider is the change of clothes you will need once the tan has been applied; take some dark clothes along that way you avoid any staining. If you remember these few rules you should find that alternative systems can be very effective and look just like the real thing.
