Maybe they came outside to take a look at your vehicle. In any private endeavor, the owner or manager should be just as able and knowledgeable as their employees.
If you do not see indications that the car repair shop you are considering uses automotive management software, then ask them the question. Such software is an essential tool that enables mechanics to access the latest and most accurate information.
