The Harry Potter novels have an enthused group of fans in and outside the UK
I am deeply fascinated by the huge universal vogue of the Harry Potter novels. The Harry Potter books were written by the UK writer J.K. Rowling. She saw the light of day on 31 July 1965. Her name is Joanne Rowling. But she writes under the abbreviation J.K. Rowling because in the beginning her publishing house considered it was a helpful idea not to show the fact that she is female. The publishing house thought it might have a negative effect on the sales numbers if everybody immediately recognizes that the writer was a woman. So, instead of using her first name she used two letters. As she has no middle name she chose Kathleen as basis for the K. in her short form. Kathleen is the name of her fathers mother.
The first Harry Potter book – Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone – was released in 1997 in in Great Britain. Very mentionable is the fact that only 1,000 pieces of the first story were released at that time. The original title of the book was not Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, but Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone. But when the book was publicized to the American market in September 1998, it was renamed Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone.
After that Joanne Rowling invented six more Harry Potter books. Now the Harry Potter series consists of a total of seven books. These are:
- Story 1: Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone
- Story 2: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
- Story 3: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
- Story 4: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
- Story 5: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
- Story 6: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
- Story 7: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
The Harry Potter stories have been translated into more than fifty-five languages and have been released in many countries. Besides the huge success in the US and the UK, Harry Potter is also very famous in Europe. The Harry Potter stories have been publicized to the German public under these titles:
- Story 1: Harry Potter und der Stein der Weisen
- Story 2: Harry Potter und die Kammer des Schreckens
- Story 3: Harry Potter und der Gefangene von Askaban
- Story 4: Harry Potter und der Feuerkelch
- Story 5: Harry Potter und der Orden des Phoenix
- Story 6: Harry Potter und der Halbblutprinz
- Story 7: Harry Potter und die Heiligtuemer des Todes
I must admit that I did not have the time to read all the stories. But there are readers who know them all, which is very fascinating and is part of the huge success.
